Protagonista di questo contributo è la Carta di Milano delle biblioteche, presentata in occasione dei primi Stati generali delle biblioteche del nostro paese che si sono tenuti a Milano il 25 e il 26 ottobre 20221. Un momento importantissimo di incontro e confronto della nostra comunità, nel quale si è guardato concretamente al futuro secondo un approccio che potremmo associare alla Teoria del cambiamento (ToC) animata – lo ricordo – da uno stimolo così sintetizzabile: se questa atti vità verrà implementata, allora questo risultato si realizzerà

«La conoscenza rende liberi». La biblioteconomia di Giovanni Solimine

Il contributo ripercorre alcuni temi fondamentali della riflessione scientifica di Giovanni Solimine a partire dal libro Percorsi e luoghi della conoscenza. Dialogando con Giovanni Solimine su biblioteche, lettura e società, curato da Giovanni Di Domenico, Giovanni Paoloni e Alberto Petrucciani (Bibliografica, 2016). Vengono presentati due diversi livelli di lettura di tale volume, dai quali scaturisce una riflessione sulla biblioteconomia: a essa oggi non spetta soltanto il compito di progettare e di individuare gli strumenti migliori per la gestione e l’organizzazione delle diverse tipologie di biblioteche, ma anche quello di contribuire a spiegarle all’intera società.This paper explores some of the topics dealt with in Giovanni Solimine’s scientific works, starting from the volume Percorsi e luoghi della conoscenza. Dialogando con Giovanni Solimine su biblioteche, lettura e società, edited by Giovanni Di Domenico, Giovanni Paoloni and Alberto Petrucciani (Bibliografica, 2016). The book's contents are analyzed under two different perspectives, both of them aimed at delving into the role of Library science today. Nowadays this discipline not only has the task of designing and identifying the best tools for managing different types of libraries, but also needs to make libraries acknowledged by the whole society

Contro le unanticipated consequences della valutazione quantitativa della ricerca: il Leiden Manifesto for research metrics

During the annual conference “STI-Science and technology indicators 2014”, one of the main opportunities for specialists of science and technology metrics to meet each other – organized by the prestigious Centre for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS) at the University of Leiden – a group of researchers produced a document that clearly recognizes the unanticipated consequences resulting from the pervasive misapplication of indicators to the evaluation of scientific performance. The article Bibliometrics: Leiden Manifesto for research metrics, published on April, 2015 on «Nature», establishes the 10 fundamental principles for anyone using quantitative metrics for evaluation purposes. Stressing the differences between the previous San Francisco Declaration of research assessment-DORA and the Manifesto, the paper emphasizes the strengths of the latter, that can be rightly considered a milestone on the road to evaluation research

L'identità percepita delle biblioteche: la biblioteconomia sociale e i suoi presupposti

Starting from the changes occurred in the larger environment libraries work in, the article deals with the new research needs libraries should cope with. In doing so, it intends to stimulate a careful consideration of the peculiar characteristics of the qualitative research methodology applied to the library user analysis, which takes into account the complex dynamics concerning the subjective and psychological aspects of motivations, needs and perceptions by patrons. By means of this analysis the article aims at explaining the reasons why, over the last years, the new paradigm of 'social librarianship' has emerged and how this change should be interpreted by libraries and librarians. In the final part of the article some considerations about future perspectives for libraries are suggested

Come un Ministro per la cultura

Elegant, lofty, charming, brilliant, bellicose, refined, capricious, superb, temerarious, vain. Giulio Einaudi is an oxymoron. From the extensive literature that has furthered our understanding of his figure, he emerges as the synthesis of divergent behaviours and contrasting inclinations. This oxymoron translates in the features of his publishing house, which integrates diachronicity and current affairs, tradition and newness, scientificity and militancy. The book deepens our knowledge of one of the most neglected aspects of Giulio Einaudi’s outstanding service towards Italian culture: namely his promotion of public libraries in the 1960s in Italy. Our starting point is the establishment of Dogliani’s civic library, dedicated to his father the President Luigi Einaudi. Setting out from this event – which we have retraced with a particular eye towards oral history – the book proposes to rethink the relationship between Einaudi’s view on library project and his cultural programme, which he expressed in the same years through an intense political campaign for the promotion of public access to reading

Text mining e network science per analizzare la complessità della lettura. Principi, metodi, esperienze di applicazione.

This paper proposes some reflections concerning the practice of reading, its conceptual structure and its transformations, the blurred profile of the information ecology in which it is inserted. At the same time illustrates some outcomes of a research project conducted with tools of text mining and network science on the social reading platform aNobii. The paper presents these main topics: a) general overview of reading's context; b) short discussion reading as a complex system; c) presentation of some central concepts of network science and of its applications; d) introduction to text mining with some results of analysis of aNobii's reviews; e) conclusions and prospectives

La Rete degli editori. Modelli di text-mining e network analysis a partire dai dati di aNobii

Obiettivo di questo contributo è quello di esaminare e discutere presupposti, metodi e risultati dell’analisi di dati estratti dalla piattaforma di social reading aNobii (http://www.anobii.com/) nell’ambito del progetto “Leggere in rete. Analisi delle pratiche di lettura in ambiente digitale”, in collaborazione tra Università degli Studi di Roma La Sapienza e Università degli Studi di Torino. Qui vengono presentati in particolare i risultati relativi all’analisi degli editori a partire non dai classici dati relativi sulla produzione editoriale rilevati annualmente da Istat ma a partire dalle recensioni dei libri inserite dai lettori sulla piattaforma aNobii. La ricerca è stata condotta secondo due prospettive tra loro integrate: una orientata a definire e visualizzare, in forma di grafo, la rete degli editori, e si avvale di strumenti ed euristiche situati nel campo della network science; l’altra, a partire dalla segmentazione degli editori realizzata attraverso le metriche di rete, analizza i vocabolari relativi a ciascun editore e ne individua le specificità, attraverso le tecniche dell’analisi automatica dei testi
